Five Instagrammable Things to do in Pensacola

If there’s one thing the Emerald Coast isn’t short on - it’s picturesque locations. While it may be known for its serene waters and white sand beaches, there’s more to this region than turquoise waters.
While many Instagram influencers opt for the same old Florida locations, those in the know are wise to the photogenic qualities of Pensacola.
Here are some of the top locations for taking a flick.
Pensacola Lighthouse and Museum
What’s the saying? “No pain. No gain.” That pretty much sums up the picture taking experience at Pensacola Lighthouse and Museum. You have to climb about 180 steps to make the most of your picture here. But, boy is it worth it. Once at the top of the lighthouse you can see miles of sand, water and shore. The location is the perfect sunset or early morning Instagram post. Imagine how inspiring it would be for your followers to see the view first thing in the morning with an inspirational quote about seizing the day.
Naval Live Oaks Area
Speaking of picturesque nature scenes, there’s nothing better than The Naval Live Oaks Reservation. Part of the Gulf Islands National Seashore, it was purchased by the U.S. Government in 1829 and is the only federal tree farm. Accessible to the public, this tree reservation is on the National Register of Historic Places. Get a shot amidst the hundreds of year old Live Oaks, or along the serene shoreline. Explore the Brackenridge Trail – quarter mile boardwalk that loops through the woods out into the Santa Rosa Sound.
Pensacola Beach Ball Tower
This shot is going to be a team effort. The Pensacola Beach water tower is painted like a giant, colorful beach ball. If you stand just so in front of it, you can appear to be holding the ginormous beach ball water tower. Located at Casino Beach, it’s a hot spot for photos. It’s suggested to lean tower of Pisa style to get the best angle.
Pensacola Beach Pier
Imagine the perfect blend of yellows, oranges, and blues - and that’s just what you’ll experience at sunset on the Pensacola Beach Pier. Overlooking the emerald water and white sand shore, the location is a great place to grab a sunset snapshot. Be sure to get there early enough to find a good location with the sunset horizon in view.
Downtown Pensacola
The heart of downtown Pensacola is no slouch when it comes to photo possibilities. The area is full of historic brick buildings, tree canopies and modern artistic touches. The very artery of Pensacola’s downtown is known as Palafox Place, and it’s located three blocks between Garden Street and Government Street. There you’ll find so many Instagram moments, from the wrought iron balconies, to the historic street lights, to the numerous artistic murals sprinkled through the area. Every street has an Instagrammable moment just around the corner.
