Florida Budget-Friendly Summer Destinations

There are plenty of wallet-friendly summer options in the sunshine state.

If you missed out on Spring Break this year due to travel restrictions, you can take a Summer break trip instead. It's perfect for those who are comfortable taking "drive-to" trips this summer.

As Summer approaches, you may be thinking about how to fit in some affordable fun with the family or your friends. With all that has been going on in the world, most people will feel more comfortable visiting places they can drive to and stay at hotels that have shared extensive cleaning and sanitizing procedures.

Having fun in Florida doesn’t have to be expensive. Here are some alternatives to pricey trips.

Thinking Orlando? Try Tampa

When you think Florida for Spring Break, images of theme parks and bright sunny beaches come to mind. But did you know you can find both in Tampa? You can get your thrills at a theme park and be basking in the sunshine on the beaches the same day. Busch Gardens Tampa Bay is a 335-acre African themed animal theme park. It’s owned and operated by SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment and has some of the fastest roller coasters in the nation. It’s also a fraction of the cost of some Orlando-based theme parks. When you’re done there, head across the bridge (there’s three of them to be exact) over to Clearwater Beach. The beach is technically within Tampa Bay because the area consists of four different counties, including Pinellas County where the beaches are located. Did we mention Tampa is home to some pretty awesome craft beers? The Tampa Bay area is a great mix of attractions for families, college spring breakers and couples looking for a getaway. Find affordable hotel deals at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Trinity.

Thinking Miami? Try Naples

Dreaming of blue waters and white sand? Skip Miami Beach and head to Naples instead. Naples is known for its serene beaches and relaxing pace. Naples is home to all public beaches such as Lowdermilk Park only 1 mile from Best Western Naples Inn & Suites. Take the hotel's complimentary beach shuttle or rent bicycles for the day. Feeling like reconnecting with nature? Check out Baker's Park, a brand new park featuring walking and biking trails. Looking for entertainment? Dine outdoors along the iconic 5th Avenue. Thinking Daytona? Try Jacksonville Beach

Sure, Daytona Beach is one of the state’s biggest Spring Break destinations, but there’s more than just one Northeast Florida city to consider when it comes to vacation. Jacksonville is located on the same Atlantic coastline as Daytona, but often for a much cheaper price. Jacksonville’s beaches are known for the waves, which make it a favorite among surfers. Its 1,320-foot peer is a fisherman’s paradise. And there plenty of shopping and dining right off the pier, making Jacksonville Beach one of the best places for families. The city also boasts a vibrant art scene. There are three major art museums and there’s a weekly Downtown Art Walk through the city. Headed to J-ville this Spring Break?
